The Basics

Porn is the Number 1 money maker on the internet. This is because:
a) The net is the ideal delivery device - it allows porn to be enjoyed anonymously without leaving the house.
b) People love sex.
c) Governments hate sex, which makes porn taboo and even more desirable to the everyday person.
d) Governments can't censor porn on the net like they can with other delivery methods such as magazines.

It's a perfect combination.

The reason why there's so much porn on the net is due to the affiliate system, and it's what you're about to become involved in. Small free sites advertise large paysites, and everyone shares in the profits. That's how affiliating works. And the more free sites you own, the more affiliates you can advertise, and the more money you make. Thus, there's millions of porn sites floating about in the hope that the average surfer will become distracted and buy some smut.

What you will need to become an adult webmaster/mistress

1. Creativity, good ideas, and an insensitivity to hardcore porn
2. Good computer with lots of hard disk space. Maybe also a CD burner so you can create backups of your sites.
3. FrontPage or other easy web creation software
4. A simple graphics program
5. A credit card with a small limit e.g. $500 for use on the net.
6. Exercise book or folder to keep track of your affiliates and passwords.
7. FTP software
8. (New, added September 2003) Absolute determination. It has become very difficult for a newbie to break into this business. Don't expect to become rich overnight, because you won't.

Fetishes and Niches

Internet porn is fragmented into many separate categories. This is because the mainstream has been saturated with what is considered to be "standard" porn - naked women having straight sex, aimed at white heterosexual men.

In order to make more money, webmasters and paysite owners target particular "niches" within the broad area of porn; a niche being a smaller market of people who are attracted to a particular sort of sex.
